To the 'Little' Guys and Girls doing Crappy Jobs!

Great speech by Ashton Kutcher - I am so pleased he mentioned all the crappy, seemingly insignificant jobs that he has had and how each one was essential to getting him ahead.  Too many people want the fame and success but want to skip the crappy little jobs that get you there!   I wonder how many people out there are busy doing crappy jobs not realising that they are one step ahead of those just sitting and wishing for fame and success - here's to the 'little' guy who cleans the tables at MacDonald's and here's to the toilet cleaners at the gym and here's too all of you that are doing what is perceived as crappy jobs - may you succeed in whatever is in your heart to do.   I respect you and thank you for all that you do.  You are the true heroes.  To those that are sitting and wishing or scheming how to get a bank loan to start big, why not go out and find yourself a crappy job, something small, just to get the ball rolling, I am sure it will get you one step i

Emotional Gravity - Emotions

Gravity is the force that pulls all matter together.   Mass is how we measure the amount of matter in something. The more massive something is, the more of a gravitational pull it exerts. As we walk on the surface of the Earth, it pulls on us, and we pull back.  Without gravity, you would float off into the atmosphere forever.  On Earth, gravity pulls objects downward toward the centre of the Earth.  It also causes any two objects in the universe to be drawn to one another.  There is a constant tension to all physical matter on earth that is required for life itself.  Without this tension there would be chaos.       Emotional gravity is a parallel principle to earth’s gravity.  Without the constant tension of emotional gravity our emotions would be in chaos.  Sadly, emotional gravity is not as stable as earth’s gravity because unlike creation, we do have free will and it is this free will which affects our stability.  Creation has no free will.  Earth was designed a certain way and

Being a Woman in Business - Who Leads by Example

Someone is always watching you. Whether you like it or not you are leading. The question though is whether or not you are leading people in a good way or in a bad way. It’s not what you say that counts as much as what you do and it’s not what you do in public that counts as much as what you do when you think no one is looking! Often it is the small things that we think are insignificant that are actually the things which have the most impact on people’s lives. The "Do as I say, not as I do" philosophy is nonsense. Even if you expect them to do as you say, they will find it very difficult not to do as you do. It is a double standard which will only cause people to be discouraged and feel insecure or betrayed. You are a leader. Full stop. If you are alive and breathing you are leading someone unless of course you are the Unabomber who lived alone in a remote cabin. I wonder who his leader was? Parenting is leadership, have a job is leadership and going to churc

King's Daughters Live Video

Welcome to a brand new section on my blog for video posts.  I am both nervous and excited about this as videos are a lot less safe that written posts.  Never-the-less, I will feel the fear and do it anyway in the hope that somehow this will further the kingdom.  Below is my very first video from a Girl's Night that we held in Ross-on-Wye, UK last week.  Subscribe to King's Daughters on our new Youtube page .  Before you watch, please don't be too critical and have mercy on me as this is only a humble, small begining with lots of room for growth :)

You are... valuable

Value is now measured by two criteria, appearance and performance.     Pretty tough system, isn't it? Where does that leave the retarded? Or the ugly or uneducated? Where does that place the aged or the handicapped? What hope does that offer the unborn child? Not much. Not much at all. We become nameless numbers on mislaid lists.     Now please understand, this is man's system. It's not God's. His plan is much brighter. God, with eyes twinkling, steps up to the philosopher's blackboard, erases the never-ending, ever-repeating circle of history and replaces it with a line; a hopefilled, promising, slender line. And, looking over his shoulder to see if the class is watching, he draws an arrow at the end.     In God's book man is heading somewhere. He has an amazing destiny. We are being prepared to walk down the church aisle and become the bride of Jesus. We are going to live with him. Share the throne with him. Reign with him. We count. We are valuable. And what&

Being a Woman AVAILABLE NOW

It's with extreme joy that I want to announce that our latest book, Being a Women , is available for you to buy.  We have had an incredible journey together at our weekly Girl's Nights and this book is the result.  Together we have explored what it means to be a Godly woman, we have recorded our conversations and opinions and presented them to you in a lovely book.  Also, as an added bonus, Lorah-Kelly had done some awesome photography and added it to our book so we have something pretty to look at too.  A very girly book but don't be fooled, the content is extremely challenging!  There were nights when tears were shed at how hard it can be and nights when much laughter was shared at the pure joy of the journey. Be prepared for an emotional roller coaster ride as you read Being a Woman which is available here in the UK , also in the USA and coming soon to Australia .

How to Find Your Personal Style

Hi girls, Angela has asked me to do a guest blog of wardrobe tips ahead of King’s Daughters Conference 2011 . The plan for the day sounds so amazing I can’t wait to meet you all and I’m looking forward to talking about ‘ On Beauty, Body And Clothes ’. The work I do is all based around introducing girls and women to Jesus, to His unconditional love and all He has done for us. Among other things, that has included me dealing with subjects like beauty and clothes because they are connected to the way we feel about ourselves which has everything to do with us knowing Jesus. But more about that at the conference…! In the mean time, I wanted to tell you a little bit about the session I will be running during the dinner break: HOW TO FIND YOUR PERSONAL STYLE . I believe that because we are all unique, each of us has an individual style – our own taste and way of putting clothes and accessories together. I don’t believe that any one person’s style is better that another person’s. I

Becoming You

I would like to introduce one of our King's Daughters Conference speakers to you - she is so lovely, you are just going to love hearing from her!  Her name is Anna and she writes (and speaks) about the stuff that is important to us women in her book "Becoming You". Most of us want to find some reason for being alive. "Becoming You" considers what would happen if we went to God for the answer. What it would mean if God was the someone who had created us, that he did so with a purpose, and that we could find out what that purpose was from him. Part book, part workbook, Anna shares her experiences of seeking God to find out who she was made to be and what her life is for. Like a makeover, it opens with the 'before', as the reader considers the way that she sees herself and ends with the 'after' as she looks at her real self - the woman she is becoming. Ideal for any woman searching for the meaning of life, "Becoming You" looks at the ways

Secure on the Rock - Introduction

Every little girl wants to know that their daddy thinks they are beautiful! As we grow older that doesn’t change, our heart and soul still longs to hear the words, “You are beautiful”. All my life I heard the words, “Angela, you are strong”, or “Angela, you will get through this - you know you are strong”. The words that caught me off guard one day were the words my husband, Eric, spoke to me. To my surprise the very words that I thought would cause me offense were the exact words that set me free. Quite simply, he said, “Darling, you are not strong”. Hearing these simple words caught me off guard. What do you mean? I have always been told how amazingly strong I am and how I can always get through anything because I can cope. Are you really telling me that I am not all these things? Why does this feel good? Secure on the Rock is my journey in discovering the beautiful gift God has given me in making me the weaker vessel. He has shown me who I really am and set me free from the

Being a Woman - Beautiful Contrasts

Let's carry on with the theme of being made in the image of God since it is such a wonderful and powerful concept. I believe that we will uncover a lot of our identity as we begin to understand this truth. Genesis 2 expands on the day man and woman were made as mentioned in Genesis 1. Genesis 2:18-25 covers the process of God removing the woman from the man thereby creating one man and one woman - they were still mankind but represented in two people.  Why did God do this, why did he make woman?  Who is 'woman'?   In my understanding, when God made mankind he made Adam fully masculine and fully feminine, perfectly balanced in his heart, just as He is. God thought it was not good that mankind be this way, He tried and tried to find a companion for Adam, but couldn't find a suitable helper for him , so He separated masculine and feminine.  He separated them so that they would need each other, depend on each other's differences and so that they would love.  Since

Being a Woman - With Sure Identity

Daniel & Amy I love children - they are so sweet and innocent and say the most profound things at times. Today I was driving home from church with Daniel in the car. We were chatting and he said that he was scared of getting arrested by the police. Concerned, I asked why. Here is what he said, "Because Tyler said that I was a naughty boy and that the police will arrest me." I replied to that with a swift, "You are not a naughty boy and the police will definitely not arrest you." "But Tyler said I am naughty", he replied "Well I said you are a good boy and Tyler said you are a naughty boy, so who are you going to believe." "God", Daniel innocently replied. Surprised by his response I thought I would probe a bit more. "What does God say about you then?" I asked "I don't know", Daniel said. "Well why don't you ask Him Daniel?" Daniel shyly replied, "I don't know how to.&q

Hope, Secure, Passion & Giants

It is with great vulnerability, fear & conviction that I am going to slowly start releasing my books on this Blog. I will begin with releasing chapter previews of each of my books that I have written & not been brave enough to publish. God has done such amazing things in my life, He has take me from a place of darkness and filth and showed me His ways. As much as I am embarrassed about where I have come from I would be even more embarrassed if I didn't share what He has done in my life. Your comments and feedback are valuable to me as I will edit and mould my books according to your comments. If you have stories to share that will benefit other readers then please feel free to share them. My only motivation is to bring hope to the lost and dying world that we live in. Please join me on this new journey, perhaps together, we as King's Daughters can make a difference in this world. Love Angela xxx

Monday & Tuesday... Confidence Crisis

Huddled in the corner of the studio, I was sitting holding back the tears whilst telling myself to stop these silly thoughts. I knew I was being pathetic and there was no way I was going to cry about it! So I sat there, giving myself a telling off all the while trying to look like I was alright. The band looks on from the other room, oblivious to my inner turmoil. It's hard for me to hide my feelings, my face always gives my feelings away, so I thought I'd better put some distance between me and them so that they can't see my struggle. The band have been awesome, incredibly supportive and regularly offering lovely comments about how well I was doing. Their kindness was consistent all through Monday and Tuesday, but this was crunch time, the final vocal recording time. The pressure was now on! All through Monday and Tuesday I have been on this roller coaster ride. One minute I hear the play back of a song and am really encouraged thinking that I don't sound too bad

You are... loved with an everlasting love

Since Eric & I first started dating he has consistently done the sweetest thing. From time to time he sends me "you are" emails where he writes something really sweet, starting with you are... then followed by a phrase affirming my identity. We have been together for six years now and he still takes time to do this. I have kept every single one, they mean so much to me and they help me remember who I am and how much I am loved. Today I would like to start doing the same thing for us girls, I am going to write a "you are" post from time to time to remind us of who we are as King's Daughters. See it as an email from heaven! It's great fun realising that when we are born again we are adopted into God's family and become princesses :) That is only step one though, the rest of the journey is a beautiful journey of discovering what it means to be a princess. So here is today's precious reminder: You are... loved with an everlasting love Jeremiah

A God Shaped Hole II

"In the effort to make things perfect, a woman can beg her man to be like the one over there. She's hoping that if he could change, she'd finally be whole. When the man feels that he is asked to be something he wasn't ever made to be, when he senses the pressure to meet expectations that seem unattainable, when he wants to fill but doesn't really understand how to pour, after years of talking and trying and talking some more the man can step back in frustration. The woman tries to counter the distance by leaning and desperately asking him for more. And he might try from miles away, but he can't. So he looks across the back yard and wonders if his neighbours woman has these needs. Maybe she doesn't. Maybe a woman like her could appreciate a man like him. And his heart wonders away. And he gives up on romance with the one he has loved and the passion dies. And the heart of the woman who has expected the man to be enough dies with it. The woman is a

A God Shaped Hole

I have been so very inspired lately, much more than usual! It's so wonderful finally realising who I am and what God wants from me in this life. I have often longed for this kind of freedom in my life and for years have felt so trapped. At the time I couldn't quite identify what it was that trapped me but I knew I wasn't free. For most of my life I was trapped in insecurity and at other times I was lost and couldn't figure out my true identity. Other seasons I found myself trapped in sin and in other seasons I was trapped in busyness. The list could go on forever but in each season of my life I have desired the freedom that I know God desires for me too. Finally I have begun to taste that freedom. I know it is only the beginning too, how exciting, there is so much more to come. The Bible says in John 8:36 that if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. This is the freedom I always desired, the indeed sort of freedom ha ha. The truth is, t

It Has Always Been There... Inside of Me

I can honestly say that I have never loved life as much as I do now - not ever! The things I am doing, the people I am meeting, the purpose to each day and the sense of destiny is incredible. As I sat pondering on how happy I am and how amazing life is something occurred to me. All this time my potential has been inside of me! I know that sounds obvious, but think about it for a minute. In order to have such joy and contentment, in order to live such an amazing life, all I have to do is be me. The more I discover what is already inside of me, the more amazing my life becomes. Some of what comes from inside of me had to be developed and matured and that required a process through the seasons of life. For example, I look at my role in church as executive pastor, and see that the years working as a project coordinator in a large London based construction company served as my season of preparation! I could not do what I am doing now as well as I am if I didn't embrace that season.

An Attitude of Gratitude

But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble ." James 4:6 Recently I have noticed something and it has changed my life. The scripture above says that God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble. This is always a good thing to keep in mind as I really don't want God to resist me! My eldest daughter, Lorah, has helped me understand this principle. As I have watched her and learned from her I have seen more and more of how important it is to be grateful. This is not directly humble but I do believe being grateful is a part of a humble nature. By nature, Lorah is always grateful. She never demands or expects anything and this attitude actually makes you want to give more to her. If we are out shopping and she asks for something I don't want to say no to her. The way she humbly asks is so lovely that I just want to give her WHATEVER she asks for. Most people are attracted to Lorah - she is so lovely to
