One of the many things that the Americans get right is their patriotism!  I often see American homes with their flags proudly hanging outside their door or hear them speak highly of their country.  It is a wonderful thing. Here in the UK I often see Brazilian flags, Polish flags and other flags from foreigners living here who are proud of the country they have come from.  NEVER have I seen a British flag displayed in front of a British person's home and all I EVER hear from locals is their complaints about this country.  COME ON PEOPLE!  The country is made up of you and I. Great speech by Ashton Kutcher - I am so pleased he mentioned all the crappy, seemingly insignificant jobs that he has had and how each one was essential to getting him ahead.  Too many people want the fame and success but want to skip the crappy little jobs that get you there!   I wonder how many people out there are busy doing crappy jobs not realising that they are one step ahead of those just sitting and wishing for fame and success - here's to the 'little' guy who cleans the tables at MacDonald's and here's to the toilet cleaners at the gym and here's too all of you that are doing what is perceived as crappy jobs - may you succeed in whatever is in your heart to do.   I respect you and thank you for all that you do.  You are the true heroes.  To those that are sitting and wishing or scheming how to get a bank loan to start big, why not go out and find yourself a crappy job, something small, just to get the ball rolling, I am sure it will get you ...

Crash diets don't work - if you lose it quickly you will put it back on just as quickly. Losing weight too quickly makes your body think it is facing potential starvation and will go into survival mode! Your fat stores will be protected and any weight loss will only be water and muscle. We had a beautiful day together on 8th September, thank you so much to you all for your incredible support and prayers. We had the stunning Instruments of Praise gospel choir lead us in worship and it was truly heavenly. We also had Daughters of Davis who absolutely blew us away with their fantastic acoustic folk/soul vibe. I was shocked at how it made me feel! I went from being a perfectly content brunette to wanting to be a blond! Within five minutes I went from feeling good about myself to feeling completely dissatisfied with my physical appearance. I couldn’t believe what an affect it had on me and if that is how it affected me, someone who is quite OK with my physical appearance, then how much more would it have affected an insecure person!  That is effective advertising and marketing for you. You are no accident - no matter what anyone has ever said to you - it's not true!  You were created specifically and intentionally by your creator.  He personal chose your hair colour, your eyes and you personality.  You were made with lots of love.  Not only were you made so specifically but so was your entire future.  You were made a certain way to live a certain life.  I recently heard a saying that you can't squash your foot into a size 2 shoe if you don't have a size 2 foot!  So simple yet so profound.  God made you just the way you are so that you can do exactly what you want to do.  Yes, this isn't a typing mistake, what you want to do.  You see, even the desires in your heart were put there by Him.  You don't need to wonder if the desires in your heart are His will, if you are a Christian and are living close to Jesus then I can quite certainly say that the desire of your heart are also the desires of His heart. You are very precious!  No matter what life has thrown at you, no matter how guilty or dirty you may feel, you are still precious.  If a diamond falls into a drain and is left for years in the slime and sludge it doesn't change the fact that it is a diamond and if found by someone will still be valued despite the grimy place it fell to.  No matter where you have fallen to, no matter how bad your day was today or the last ten years have been, you are still precious.  If only you knew how much God values you.  He is the only one who knows your true value.  You are so precious to Him that He has your name 'tattooed' on His hand! Since Eric & I first started dating he has consistently done the sweetest thing. From time to time he sends me "you are" emails where he writes something really sweet, starting with you are... then followed by a phrase affirming my identity. We have been together for six years now and he still takes time to do this. I have kept every single one, they mean so much to me and they help me remember who I am and how much I am loved. Today I would like to start doing the same thing for us girls, I am going to write a "you are" post from time to time to remind us of who we are as King's Daughters. See it as an email from heaven! It's great fun realising that when we are born again we are adopted into God's family and become princesses :) That is only step one though, the rest of the journey is a beautiful journey of discovering what it means to be a princess. One of my favourite writers is Max Lucado. His children's books have changed my life as I have read them to my children at bedtime. My absolute favourite is You Are Special - this has helped me so much with understanding how little it matters what people think about me and how much what God says about me really matters. This book has helped me so much with my identity & I know it will help my children with theirs as they grow up. Sometimes it's the simplest things that are most powerful, I imagine this is partly what Jesus meant when he said in Luke 18:17; " whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it " Have you ever been impacted by a children's book?
