And then there were three!

It's been a while since I have updated you on our family news. This announcement is the most exciting news ever.  I am a GRANDMOTHER now! Wow!

It's been nearly three years since this special day. Samuel and Lorah were married in a beautiful barn wedding in Gloucestershire and it was a perfect day in so many ways, despite the cold and windy March weather. Eric had the privilege of conducting the wedding ceremony and then they flew away off to Spain for a sunny honeymoon.

Samuel and Lorah are a shinning example of how to build a great marriage, how to overcome life's many challenges with finesse and even how to build a business together. It has been such a joy to watch this lovely couple grow together. Just when things could get any better it did! Tears of joy and champagne flowed freely as we celebrated the amazing news that a new little person would be joining our family. Oh my goodness I have never been so excited in all my life!!!

Now, onto a not so happy part. I have never been so fearful in all my life! Lorah had the most horrific 4 day labour which ended in a caesarean - a story that's not mine to tell but what I can tell is that all faith went out the window as I spent days and nights crying and pleading with God for their very lives. It might not have been quite as dramatic as that but for me it was. I feared so much, it was horrible. Sam was absolutely brilliant through it all, not only being a rock for Lorah but also keeping all the family across the globe informed every step of the way and keeping us comforted too. Sam has always had a special place in my heart but now I have a whole new level of respect for him.  As for Lorah, well I simply don't know how she did it!  But after all the crying and drama they was great joy when little Emily Beard finally made her entrance into the world just after 2pm on Tuesday 26th January weighing just over 8 lbs.

Here I am!!! Grandma with baby Emily.

And more importantly, here is the happy new mommy and daddy.

Excuse the nasty camera phone photos from the hospital but Lorah hasn't quite got back behind the camera yet. In weeks, months and years to come I am sure we will have some lovely photos to share with you :)

Saved by grace, a new creation, on purpose for a purpose. I am free with a future and a hope!

I've considered deleting this blog many times but can't seem to let it go for some reason. Perhaps because it contains such an important part of my life and I'm hoping that somehow my 'scribblings' can inspire and help others going through some of the things I've been through. So, I continue to hold onto it for a little longer. Tonight, 31st December 2021, I reflect on not only the year that has passed but the many years before that too. I love to look back and reflect before plotting the way forwards into a new year. So I've pulled out all my journals and as I flip through the pages I am in awe of how far I have come.  Only today I found myself chatting with Jordan about the importance of not comparing ourselves with others but without past self, and as I look back I am amazed and how far I have come. I can't help but go back to that day. The day that I hit rock bottom. I had been a Christian for 10 years at that point and yet still found myself on the

Daniel Fast - Odours, Tiredness and Pains

These are some of what can occur during a fast but don't be alarmed, it is only worse case scenario.  Many people don't go through all of this so don't worry.  This info is merely so that you understand what is happening in your body and that you don't become concerned if some of these symptoms present themselves. Odours, tiredness, dizziness, headaches and other pains - these are some of the things that you will face during your fast.  As you continue to fast you body will begin to cleanse itself and eliminate toxins.  These toxins will come out of your body wherever they can which will mean that you might sweat more and your sweat will have a stronger smell than usual.  You breath will also be stronger than usual and so will you urine smell.  You may even get a funny taste in your mouth or feel that your tongue has a thick coat on it.  It sounds nasty, but for a while you will face unpleasant odours from your body, so brush well with a natural toothpaste (as you don
